South Africa defeated India by 3 wickets in 29th Match of Group B of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, played at Nagpur. India won the toss and elected to bat first.
India started well, Sehwag and Tendulkar gave the good start to India as needed. Sehwag scored 73 runs while Tendulkar scored century, he was out after scoring 111 runs.
After Sehwag's dismissal, Gautam Gambhir came to crease and batted sensibly and scored half century, he was out on 69 runs.
No other Indian batsmen dominated well in the total of India. Yuvraj and Dhoni scored 12 runs each. And at the end India were bowled out for 296 runs in 48.4 overs.
From South Africa's bowling side, Daly Steyn took 5 wickets. Robin Peterson took 2, Morkel, Kallis and Faf du Plessis took 1 wicket each.
Chasing the target of 297 runs, South Africa started slowly but well. Graeme Smith was out earlier in the innings, after scoring 16 runs. Hashim Amla, J Kallis and AB de Villiers scored half centuries.
Amla was out after scoring 61 runs, Kallis scored 69 runs while AB de Villiers scored 52 runs.
Faf du Plessis was not out on 25 runs and Robin Peterson played mathc win innings and scored 18 runs in just 7 balls with 2 fours and 1 six.
South Africa chased the target in 49.4 overs. South Africa lost 7 wickets.
From India's bowling side, Harbhajan Singh took 3 wickets, Munaf Patel 2 while Zaheer Khan took 1 wicket.
Dale Steyn was declared as the Man of the Match.
